The American People Know that the Failure to Secure the Border is the Real Immigration Scandal

Key Takeaways

The American people are not buying the Biden Administration’s campaign insisting that the border is secure.

60% of Americans believe the federal government’s failure to secure the border is a bigger problem than governors sending some illegal aliens to New York, Chicago, and Martha’s Vineyard.

The American people openly reject the Biden Administration’s ‘Cartel and Traffickers First’ immigration policies and continue to demand that the southern border be secured.

The governors of Texas and Arizona bused a few thousand illegal aliens to Washington, D.C., and its Leftist mayor panicked. Despite our Nation’s capital branding itself as a sanctuary city, a jurisdiction that unlawfully impedes federal immigration enforcement, Mayor Muriel Bowser repeatedly requested National Guard assistance. After the Department of Defense denied the third request, Bowser declared a state of emergency for her city of more than 700,000 people. New York City Mayor Eric Adams similarly protested the busing of a few thousand illegal aliens to our country’s largest city, which also happens to be a sanctuary city. When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis flew 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, the Left’s hypocritical outcries reached a fever pitch as they started leveling accusations of criminal misconduct. Meanwhile, the Biden Administration continues with its campaign of denial and distraction, insisting that the border is secure.

The American people are not buying it. A recent Rasmussen poll of registered voters found that 83% believe it is important to secure the southern border and end illegal immigration. Sixty-five percent even support sending U.S. troops to the border to get the job done. In the same poll, 54% do not believe the Biden Administration is even trying to secure the border, and 61% believe the cartels control our southern border. Americans are not falling for the false narrative currently being pushed by the Biden Administration that the border is “secure.”

Governors of border states, on the front lines of the Biden Administration’s failed immigration policies, have been forced to take action with state resources. Border towns are overwhelmed and lack the capacity and resources to handle the record number of illegal aliens the Biden Administration has incentivized to enter the country. The governors’ actions of sending a small portion of these illegal aliens to sanctuary cities in the interior of the country wasn’t a political stunt aimed to generate buzz from Conservatives — it was out of necessity to prompt action by federal officials. Sixty percent of Americans believe the federal government’s failure to secure the border is a bigger problem than governors sending some illegal aliens to New York, Chicago, and Martha’s Vineyard. Also, 63% also agree that it took these actions to get the media and the federal government to acknowledge the problem.

To be clear, the Biden Administration’s failure to secure the border is the real immigration scandal. Open borders is not a “compassionate” policy — the chaos it creates is inhumane and puts public safety and national security at risk. These policies are directly responsible for the record number of unaccompanied alien children (UACs) trafficked into the country, all of whom have been victimized emotionally, physically, or sexually along the way to the border. The constant stories of UACs being raped, tortured, assaulted, or dying while taken across the border unlawfully are horrific. The outrage should focus on the policies that encourage this heinous behavior, not governors who have limited tools available to do the job the federal government is failing to do.

The sad reality is that the Biden Administration’s border security policies are essentially positioning the U.S. Government as a complicit business partner of the cartels. The cartels are generating billions of dollars in revenue while the federal government turns a blind eye to the lethal consequences of fentanyl poisoning and overdoses.

The results are in: the American people openly reject the Biden Administration’s ‘Cartel and Traffickers First’ immigration policies and continue to demand that the southern border be secured.
