AFPI Statement from Chad Wolf On June Illegal Border Apprehension Numbers
July 16, 2021
Today, after the Biden Administration released June’s illegal border apprehension numbers, Chad Wolf, Former Acting DHS Secretary and AFPI’s Chairman of the Center for Homeland Security and Immigration, offered the following statement:
“The Biden Administration has abandoned its obligation to secure the border and protect Americans, and the facts speak for themselves. For the fifth consecutive month since assuming office, illegal apprehensions on the southwest border remain at disastrously high and unmanageable levels. June’s 188,829 illegal apprehensions is over a 470% increase from this time last year. Most concerning is that the categories of families and unaccompanied minors are up from the dangerous levels of the previous month. And perhaps most telling is that June 2021 represents the third highest month in over 21 years.
It’s clear that the Biden Administration is not interested in its constitutional and legal obligations to protect and defend the American people, and is complicit in this unprecedented influx. It’s time for a change and to bring order to the border and safety to American communities. The Biden Administration needs to enforce the rule of law, stop lining the pockets of the cartels, and to protect vulnerable populations from human traffickers and smugglers. In short, the Biden Administration must stop putting politics over public safety.”
