LETTER: Supporting BIF is Gateway to Big Government Socialism Bill
November 03, 2021
Top conservatives including Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives; Stephen Moore, economist, and chairman of the Save America Coalition; Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, and others sent a letter to Republicans in Congress today expressing serious concerns over the enormous cost of President Biden’s numerous spending proposals and warn that both the “Bipartisan Infrastructure Funding” and “Build Back Better” plan, would undermine much of the progress made by the conservative movement over the last four years.
In the letter, the Coalition wrote:
“This would be one of the greatest abuses of power in American history, as no member of Congress would fully know or have had time to read what is in the bills.
“Both bills would result in a massive increase in the size and scope of the government and will do so for years … We have serious concerns about a Green New Deal /Infrastructure bill that only directs one of four dollars to traditional infrastructure.
“These two spending bills are joined at the hip. Support for one indicates support for both.
“Passing the Green New Deal/Infrastructure bill is a gateway to passing the Big Government Socialism/Reconciliation bill, which would undermine so much of the progress our conservative movement has made over the past four years.”
The letter was signed by Newt Gingrich, former of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, America First Policy Institute and the Save America Coalition, American Cornerstone Institute, American Principles Project, Americans for Prosperity, Americans for Tax Reform, American Legislative Exchange Council, Citizens for Renewing America, Coalitions for America, Committee to Unleash Prosperity, Council for National Policy, Conservative Partnership Institute, Competitive Enterprise Institute, Conservative Action Project (CAP), Foundation for Government Accountability, FreedomWorks, Galen Institute, Goldwater Institute, Heritage Action for America, Independent Women’s Forum, Independent Women’s Voice, Job Creators Network, Missouri Center-Right Coalition, Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, and the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
