STATEMENT: AFPI Praises House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Efforts to Increase Transparency and Competition in Healthcare
Washington, D.C. - Following the announcement by the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health that it will hear legislative solutions to increase transparency and competition in healthcare this week, the America First Policy Institute issued the following statement from Governor Bobby Jindal, Chair of the America First Policy Institute’s Center for a Healthy America:
“The House majority is working to deliver on a key element of its Commitment to America — to achieve longer, healthier lives for Americans — by holding a hearing this week on legislative solutions to increase transparency and competition. Policies that remove uncertainty about the cost of medical care and increase competition enhance the ability of families to plan and pay for future healthcare expenses as they make comparisons across providers. Specifically, requiring hospital and insurer transparency in the Transparent PRICE Act will put Americans in charge of their healthcare. And promoting site-neutral payments in Medicare will ensure patients have access to trusted doctors and appropriate care at the same price regardless of treatment location.
The America First Policy Institute applauds the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health and Committee Chair McMorris Rodgers for proposing solutions that put Americans first and create a healthy America.”
