STATEMENT: Carla Sands on H.R. 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Carla Sands, Vice Chair of the Center for Energy & Environment at AFPI, regarding H.R. 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act. This bill amends the Clean Air Act to prevent its use in banning the sale of internal combustion engines.

“The Biden Administration, California, and states across the Nation are engaged in a multi-faceted war on the gas-powered cars and trucks that Americans count on every day. As those on the Left push to mandate electric vehicles, the progressive attacks on consumer choice are already raising costs of new gas-powered vehicles and fueling inflation across the economy. H.R. 1435 takes important action to protect American consumer choice and the American way of life: fast cars and freedom.

If enacted, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act will block the Environmental Protection Agency from enabling California's and other states’ overreaching attacks on gas-powered cars and trucks. We must act to protect American transportation freedom.”
