STATEMENT: CHAD WOLF ON SCOTUS REINSTATING ‘REMAIN IN MEXICO’ POLICY
August 25, 2021
Chad Wolf, Chairman of the Center for Homeland Security and Immigration, offered the following statement:
“Yesterday, the Supreme Court recognized the catastrophe at the border by reinstating the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), a policy supported by law that has a record of stemming the flow of illegal migration. MPP was a critical tool to address the border security crisis in 2019 and stopped the dangerous catch and release policies. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration rescinded this program for political reasons despite its effectiveness and the disastrous results of its removal.
I now call on the Department to quickly reinstate MPP. The Department has a robust roadmap on how to implement this program and immediate removals in select Border Patrol sectors should begin immediately. Now is the time to send the signal to smugglers and traffickers that the border is no longer open.”
