Statement: Ken Blackwell on the New Prohibition of Ranked Choice Voting in Idaho
Washington, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Ken Blackwell, Chair of the Center for Election Integrity at AFPI, regarding Idaho Governor Brad Little signing H179, which prohibits Ranked Choice Voting:
“Ranked Choice Voting is never the right choice — prohibiting this system of voting is. We congratulate Governor Little and the Idaho legislature for bringing H179 across the finish line. This is a monumental step toward election integrity.
The Center for Election Integrity firmly opposes Ranked Choice Voting because it is a confusing and chaotic system that often results in the candidate with the most votes losing the election. While H179 was pending in committee, we submitted our fact sheet and issue brief for the legislature’s consideration. We are happy we helped educate policymakers on the effects of Ranked Choice Voting. This new law prohibiting Ranked Choice Voting is a win for all Idahoans.”
