WITNESSING TRAGEDY AND RESILIENCE: AFPI’S VISIT TO ISRAEL
Dec 8 - Dec 14, 2024
This past week, America First Policy Institute (AFPI) representatives Caelen Philips and Syddia Lee-Chee had the profound honor of traveling to Israel as part of a delegation sponsored by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Hispanic Pastors Alliance. This journey provided an opportunity to witness the unyielding spirit of the Israeli people as they continue to grapple with the devastating aftermath of the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.
More than 1,200 innocent lives were lost, 250 individuals were taken hostage, and 100 remain trapped in Gaza—including five Americans and two small children. This tragedy is etched into the hearts and minds of the Israeli people, and the stories of these victims echo across the nation.
Honoring Victims and Families
The delegation visited Kibbutz Nir Oz, near the Gaza border, where they met Dana Sitton, sister-in-law to Shiri Bibas. Shiri and her two children—Kfir, who will turn two in January, and Ariel, just four months old—were taken hostage from their home. Their story is one of countless heartbreaks, as families like Shiri’s live in anguish, praying for their loved ones’ safe return from the unspeakable conditions of Gaza’s tunnels.
At the Nova Festival site, where many lost their lives in the 2023 attacks, the group reflected on the human cost of this unimaginable violence. The testimonies of survivors and the families of hostages served as powerful reminders of the resilience and faith that bind the Israeli people.
A Journey of Reflection
The delegation also visited sacred landmarks central to Israel’s cultural and spiritual heritage, including the Western Wall and the Sea of Galilee. These sites symbolize faith and underscore the shared values of hope, unity, and unwavering commitment to life.
In moments of prayer and reflection, the importance of standing alongside Israel became even more evident. AFPI remains committed to highlighting the strength and perseverance of those affected while amplifying their stories to advocate for justice and freedom.
Amplifying Voices and Raising Awareness
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs entrusted our delegation to share the voices of victims and families. Now, as we approach the holiday season—a time dedicated to faith, family, and community—we must remember the 100 hostages who remain separated from their loved ones in unimaginably dire conditions. The urgent call to bring these men, women, and children home cannot be ignored.
AFPI stands resolute in its mission to amplify these stories and rally support for Israel. We are exploring action-oriented campaigns to raise awareness, encourage solidarity, and apply pressure for the return of those still held hostage.
As we celebrate the blessings of family and faith this holiday season, let us not forget those still waiting to be reunited. AFPI invites our supporters and the broader community to stand with Israel in solidarity and prayer, advocating for the safe return of these hostages and a brighter future for all.
Together, we can be a voice for the voiceless and bring hope to those in darkness.
