AFPI Names Norm Champ as Chair of Financial Freedom Initiative

April 15, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) named Norm Champ, a prominent regulatory lawyer, author, and former Director of Investment Management at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as the new Chair of AFPI’s Financial Freedom Initiative.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with Norm taking the Financial Freedom Initiative under his wing as the America First movement marches forward,” said Greg Sindelar, interim President & Chief Executive Officer of AFPI.

AFPI’s new Financial Freedom Initiative will advocate for policies that shrink the enormous administrative state and curb its overregulation of economic activities through a constellation of agencies. The net effect of this system has stifled prosperity and restricted freedom for all Americans. As the Department of Government Efficiency focuses on streamlining federal agencies, this initiative will bolster these efforts in the financial sector.

“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to head the critically important work of restoring our markets and ushering in the Golden Age of America,” said Norm Champ. “This initiative will mitigate the negative impacts of a bloated federal government on Americans, especially concerning its excessive economic control through a rogue array of alphabet soup agencies.”

Champ brings a wealth of expertise from his tenure as a leading legal executive, coupled with extensive experience from his five-year service at the SEC following the financial crash of 2008.

AFPI is committed to promoting policies that will reduce the vast administrative state and curb its overregulation of financial activities to foster greater economic opportunity for all Americans.
