America First Celebrates Supreme Court Decision in Trump v. U.S.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from President and CEO Brooke Rollins following the Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. U.S. The rule of law and the Constitution prevailed over lawfare and the weaponization of the Department of Justice.
“While President Trump emerged victorious, this is a case that should have never existed in the first place. It was an egregious attempt to break down the delicate balance of the separation of powers that our Founders so carefully crafted. Thankfully, the Supreme Court upheld the integrity of our Constitution and rejected the dangerous notion that the president may be targeted by partisan political opponents.
The president, the Court, and our entire federal government are bound to the United States Constitution. And in this case, the American people who still believe in the intrinsic and everlasting moral value of our Constitution are among the greatest winners.”
This sets an extremely important precedent. If a president cannot make hard decisions for fear of being prosecuted in the future, President Abraham Lincoln would never have been able to free the slaves through his bold Emancipation Proclamation. There would be no killing of terrorist Osama Bin Laden, no Little Rock Central High School de-segregation, no Civil Rights Act, and so many other amazing American accomplishments that shaped this Nation.
