America First Expands Fight Against the Weaponization of Government

May 30, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) announced that Brett Tolman will serve as Chair of AFPI’s Weaponization Initiative. Tolman, a seasoned veteran of criminal justice and government reform, steps into this pivotal role after serving as Senior Advisor to the initiative for the past four months. In this new capacity, Tolman will lead the charge against government overreach and the assault on our justice system, fueled by political vendettas.

“Our Nation was founded upon a belief that justice should be blind, fair, and impartial for all Americans, but today, that tradition has been replaced by a radical Left that uses lawfare and a weaponization of justice against any person or group who dares challenge their woke policies,” said Tolman. “It is imperative that we defend the integrity of our justice system from political influence and abuse, and I look forward to leading America First’s work to uphold the principles of justice and the rule of law in this new capacity.”

Tolman brings a wealth of experience to the forefront of this battle, having previously served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah and Chief Counsel for Crime and Terrorism to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Tolman also frequently appears as a legal analyst on Fox News and other national media outlets. Mr. Tolman also serves as Executive Director of Right on Crime of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

“Brett’s insight and counsel in helping craft transformational policies during my time in the Trump Administration was essential, and I know he’s going to bring AFPI’s efforts to combat weaponization to the next level,” affirmed President and CEO of AFPI, Brooke Rollins. “The powerful combination of his passion, experience, and expertise will add so much to our relentless fight against a broken and weaponized justice system.”

Tolman joins a team consisting of other AFPI legal experts, including former Acting U.S. Attorney General and Co-Chair of AFPI’s Center for Law and Justice Matt Whitaker, former Florida Attorney General and Co-Chair of AFPI’s Center for Law and Justice and Chair of the Center for Litigation Pam Bondi, and Executive Director of AFPI’s Center for Litigation Mike Berry. This growing team of legal heavyweights will be essential in combating political persecution at this moment in American history.
