America First Policy Institute Calls for Swift Passage of the Laken Riley Act
WASHINGTON, DC - The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Chad Wolf, former Acting Secretary of DHS and Executive Director of AFPI, supporting Congressman Mike Collins’s (GA-10) bill, H.R. 7511, the Laken Riley Act, which was passed by the House and is now awaiting the Senate:
"The tragic death of Laken Riley serves as a painful reminder of the urgent need to enforce our immigration laws and the dire consequences of the Biden Administration’s unlawful use of the parole program and its catch and release policy.
The Senate must act with resolve and pass this legislation swiftly to mandate the detention and removal of any alien charged with any burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting offense. Importantly, this bill empowers the states to hold the administration accountable in court if they refuse to do so or if they continue to exploit the parole authority. We owe it to Laken and countless others who have suffered. It's about honoring Laken Riley's memory and protecting Americans from future harm. The time for action is now."
