America First Praises the Supreme Court’s Decision to Rule Against a Weaponized Justice System
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from former Acting U.S. Attorney General and Co-Chair of AFPI’s Center for Law and Justice Matt Whitaker following the Supreme Court’s decision in Fischer v. United States.
“Today, the Supreme Court delivered justice for hundreds of January 6 protestors who the Biden Administration’s Justice Department (DOJ) vindictively targeted. Biden’s DOJ, seeking to maximize jail time, attempted to shoehorn various federal laws against the January 6 protestors in order to increase the maximum punishments available. The Supreme Court examined the legality of the convictions and concluded that DOJ’s overzealous charges deprived the defendants of the due process that our Constitution guarantees to every American. Although this case should never have existed in the first place, the America First Policy Institute applauds the Supreme Court’s decision.”
