Government Shutdown Puts Critical Lab Work at Risk
Washington, D.C.— Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Ted Ellis, Campaign Director for Power America and Deputy Director for Energy & Environment, on the impact of the government shutdown on NNSA operations in New Mexico:
“Because of the ongoing shutdown, NNSA field-office employees at America's storied Los Alamos and Sandia national labs have been sent home, leaving just a handful to keep up oversight, and making it harder for the labs to deliver. These labs are important elements of America's commitment to lead the world in developing and delivering the next-generation research, technology, and weapons-complex capabilities that keep our nation safe. Even as the core mission remains ongoing, it is vital that we restore staffing at these important facilities to full strength.
It is time to end the push for liberal policies like taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens. Congress needs to reopen the government and put the American people first.”
