Inside the White House’s New Executive Order

March 28, 2025

On March 25, 2025, President Trump issued an Executive Order that accomplished critical election integrity measures. CEI has been at the forefront of educating Americans about these issues for years, and President Trump is bringing bold reform to election security and protecting American voters.

Recommendations Enacted by the White House

  • Strengthening voter citizenship verification and banning foreign nationals from interfering in U.S. elections. This helps ensure that foreign nationals do not have a say in U.S. elections. See CEI’s recommendation in our 2024 Issue Brief.
  • Updating the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines 2.0 and security standards for voting equipment and prioritizing federal grant funds accordingly. See CEI Chair Ken Blackwell’s op-ed in Townhall urging this policy.
  • Conditioning federal election-related funds on states complying with the integrity measures set forth by Federal law. See CEI Chair Ken Blackwell’s op-ed in Townhall urging this policy.
  • Directing the Attorney General take appropriate action against states that count ballots received after Election Day in Federal elections, given clear Federal law setting a single Election Day deadline, and conditioning Federal election funding on compliance. See CEI’s recommendation for this policy in our 2023 Fact Sheet.
  • Mandating that all agencies must report on compliance with undoing Biden Executive Order 14019, which turned Federal agencies into Democratic voter turnout centers. See AFPI’s overview of our lawsuit against the Biden Administration’s Executive Order 14019.

The Trump administration is reversing the damaging policies from the past four years, taking steps like this Executive Order to ensure that American elections are safe, secure, and transparent. We applaud the issuance of this Executive Order and look forward to continuing our work to make it Easy to Vote, but Hard to Cheat.
