June 20, 2024

Linda McMahon, Chair of the America First Policy Institute, and Mike Faulkender, Chief Economist at AFPI, joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business to discuss the current economic landscape and the Federal Reserve's policies.

Mike Faulkender criticized Fed Chair Jerome Powell for being slow to respond to inflation, attributing it to the Biden administration's extensive spending. He argued that Powell's delayed recognition of inflation and continuous rate hikes are insufficient to counteract the inflationary pressures exacerbated by regulatory and fiscal policies. Faulkender emphasized that unless the Biden administration reduces spending and deregulates, particularly in the energy sector, inflation will persist.

Linda McMahon responded to President Biden's criticism of the Trump tax cuts, asserting that the tax cuts significantly benefited the U.S. economy. She highlighted that the Trump administration's policies led to economic growth, increased capital access for small businesses, and record-low unemployment rates across various demographics. McMahon argued that the positive impacts of the tax cuts were evident until the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the economy began to recover swiftly due to these policies.

Both Faulkender and McMahon agreed that extending the Trump tax cuts would be more beneficial for the economy than Biden's proposed tax hikes. They underscored the importance of tax cuts in fostering economic growth and increasing government revenues, as historically demonstrated during the Reagan, Clinton, and Trump administrations.
