STATEMENT: Kellyanne Conway on the Introduction of H.R. 5, The Parents Bill of Rights
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Kellyanne Conway, Chair of the Center for the American Child at AFPI:
“We applaud House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) for introducing H.R. 5, The Parents Bill of Rights. The bill is based on five core pillars that solidify the rights of parents when it comes to their children’s education.
As parents, we are our children’s first teachers. It is our duty to protect and nurture our children, and no government entity or school board has the authority to interfere with that responsibility. No parent should be slandered or dismissed for wanting to play a role in their child’s education. In fact, parents have a fundamental right to say where their child goes to school and what is taught there. Speaker McCarthy and Congresswoman Letlow deserve credit for their commitment to elevate and enshrine parental rights. If this bill is passed, the government will have to think twice before it tries to interfere with a parent’s authority over their child’s development.”
