Price Transparency Means More Support and Protections for Patients
Washington, D.C. - Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement in support of the price transparency and site-neutral payment provisions included in larger legislation the House is considering tonight, the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act. These provisions aim to build on the Trump Administration’s regulatory effort to protect Americans from unexpected medical expenses. The provisions require cost transparency for medical procedures from hospitals prior to the administration of care.
Statement from Governor Bobby Jindal, Chair of the Center for a Healthy America at AFPI:
“Congress should lower healthcare costs and put patients first. The House of Representatives should adopt vital reforms that provide price transparency and site-neutral payment reform to American families. Congress should ensure that no family is ambushed by medical expenses, which can lead to financial devastation when they are most vulnerable.
The America First Agenda is focused on putting patients in control of their healthcare and removing uncertainty around costs. These solutions are a critical step in the right direction, as nearly eight in 10 Americans agree that these changes could make the system better.”
