Tim Walz’s Failure to Protect Voters
THE ISSUE
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s record on election integrity is disastrous. Under Walz, Minnesota is a sanctuary state that unlawfully protects a massive illegal immigrant population from deportation. Minnesota also has more than 100,000 refugees, the highest refugee per capita rate in the United States. These non-citizens could potentially vote, which is a serious threat to voter integrity. Tim Walz has done nothing to stop it.
FIVE SPECIFIC MEASURES WALZ SUPPORTS THAT COMPLETELY FAIL TO PROTECT LEGAL VOTES AND LEGAL VOTERS
- Minnesota does not require any ID to vote. Therefore, if someone shows up to vote, there is no verification that they are who they claim to be.
- In 2023, Walz signed into law a bill that allows illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, which allows people who are NOT American citizens to end up on the voter rolls and potentially vote in American elections. This could mean more than 80,000 unlawful ballots cast in November.
- In 2023, Walz enacted Automatic Voter Registration, which automatically puts anyone applying for a driver’s license on the voter roll. Although Minnesota law says that in order to be registered to vote, the driver’s license applicant must show proof of citizenship.
- Minnesota allows same-day registration. This means anyone with a license and proof of address can show up and register to vote. There will not be enough time to vet if that person is actually eligible to vote before the election is certified, as has been pointed out before.
- There is no ban in Minnesota on non-citizen voting; the state has taken no proactive measures to ensure non-citizens are not on the voter rolls. If a mistake is made and an illegal immigrant is on the voter roll, they do not have a mechanism to catch this, such as regular voter roll citizenship audits.
There are other problematic issues with Minnesota’s election laws, but the issue of non-citizen voting is especially prevalent given the Biden-Harris Administration’s complete failure to secure the border and the high number of non-citizens in Minnesota. Governor Tim Walz does not care about protecting Minnesotans or their votes.
