America on Fire: Vice President Kamala Harris’s Dangerous Approach to Radical Liberal Violence and Civil Unrest

Civil Unrest and Radical Liberal Violence Set The Country Ablaze in 2020

During the summer of 2020, liberal violent agitators rioted throughout the Nation, causing tremendous destruction and leaving crumbled communities in their wake.

  • More than 2,000 law enforcement officers were injured in the line of duty during the protests, many seriously. At the same time, radical Left activists promoted the mantra of “defund the police.”
  • Over 14,000 arrests were made in the first two weeks of the protests alone. However, most of the charges were ultimately dropped by progressive prosecutors who were more concerned with “social justice” than upholding the rule of law.
  • In October 2020, researchers analyzed 7,305 protest events and found police made arrests at 5% of them. Only 3.7% of the events involved property damage or vandalism, according to the analysis.
  • The damage and destruction caused by arson, looting, and vandalism is estimated to have cost $1–2 billion

Vice President Kamala Harris: In Her Own Words

Instead of unequivocally condemning the violence and civil unrest, then-Senator Kamala Harris doubled down on the anti-police rhetoric that fueled much of the ongoing violence across the Nation, tacitly justifying the actions of the rioters.

  • Harris encouraged Americans by posting a tweet to give money to help bail out the looters, rioters, and violent protesters that caused untold damage in Minneapolis and elsewhere during the unrest of 2020. “If you’re able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota.”
  • Harris referenced the BLM Riots as a “movement,” noting that “They (protestors) are not going to stop, this is a movement.”
  • During a radio interview in June of 2020, Harris praised the “defund the police” movement stating, “The idea that putting more cops on the street makes us safer, is wrong.”
  • Harris doubled down on this misguided approach to public safety when she said, “It is old, tired, wrong, status quo thinking to think you get more safety by putting more police officers on the street.”
  • In her first solo speech in 2020 as Democrat vice presidential nominee, Harris vowed to stand with the protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, stating, “People are rightfully angry and exhausted...it’s no wonder people are taking to the streets. And I support them.” She made this statement while businesses within the city of Kenosha burned to the ground.

An America First Solution to Liberal violence and Civil Unrest

An America First approach to protecting our Nation’s communities from radical liberal violence and civil unrest requires the following:

  • Accountability
    • Criminal perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions. Progressive criminal justice policies that coddle criminals will only make our communities more dangerous. Americans must insist on law and order, and that begins by ensuring criminals face consequences for their criminal behavior.
  • Supporting Law Enforcement
    • Our Nation was founded upon the principle of the rule of law and that no one group of people is above the law in our society. Our country’s law enforcement community is tasked with upholding this foundational element of our society, and we must support them in their efforts to do so. Anti-police sentiment and calls to “defund the police” only undermine the law enforcement community and make our Nation less safe.
  • Ending Abuse of the Criminal Justice System by Rogue Prosecutors
    • Rogue progressive prosecutors have systematically undermined public safety in the communities in which they have implemented their liberal progressive criminal justice policies. Americans must demand that their local criminal justice officials actually uphold the obligations of their office and ensure that criminal perpetrators are held to account for their actions.
