Lt. General (Ret.) Keith Kellogg joined Varney on Fox Business to discuss various conflicts in the Middle East and the broader implications for U.S. foreign policy.
Kellogg addressed accusations that former President Trump cozied up to dictators, calling such claims absurd. He praised Trump's strategy of keeping open lines of communication with global leaders, including adversaries like Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin. Kellogg emphasized that Trump's approach was about maintaining dialogue to protect American interests and sovereignty, rather than isolationism.
Kellogg also discussed NATO's role, highlighting the importance of member nations fulfilling their financial commitments for collective defense. He suggested that the U.S. should pressure NATO allies to meet their funding obligations, emphasizing that strong financial contributions are crucial for the alliance's effectiveness.
In addition, Kellogg expressed concerns about the rising threat of hypersonic missiles, particularly from China. He noted that while U.S. Navy defense systems can currently counter these threats, the development of swarm technology poses significant challenges. Kellogg called for advancements in space-based radar systems to improve early detection and interception capabilities.
Kellogg concluded by stressing the need to recognize China as an adversary rather than just a competitor, urging the U.S. to take a more strategic approach to counter China's growing military capabilities.
