AFPI Commends house Energy & Commerce Subcommittee for Considering America First Energy Policies
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Oliver McPherson-Smith, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Energy & Environment at AFPI, applauding the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, & Grid Security for considering America First Agenda policies that would strengthen the Nation’s energy security. The Subcommittee meets today to mark up measures that would shed unnecessary red tape and establish predictable rules for the nuclear power industry. The importance of such measures were highlighted in McPherson-Smith’s research report, “Five Steps Toward an American Nuclear Renaissance,” which was published in September.
“Energy security is fundamental to economic and national security, yet far-left ideology is eroding the stability of our Nation’s electricity grid. The comprehensive legislative package that the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, & Grid Security is considering today would help put our Nation back on the right track by modernizing outdated or opaque federal nuclear energy regulations.
American nuclear energy is a critical part of our Nation’s energy mix, and innovation within this sector has the potential to drive the future of American energy. Today’s legislative package would move our Nation toward unleashing American energy abundance and putting the Nation’s energy security first.”
