STATEMENT: Bodega Charges Dropped
Washington, D.C. - Today, the America First Policy Institute issued the following statement from Matt Whitaker, Co-Chair of the Center for Law and Justice at the America First Policy Institute, and former Acting Attorney General of the United States, and Pam Bondi, Co-Chair of the Center for Law and Justice, and Former Attorney General of the State of Florida:
“We are relieved that the Manhattan District Attorney has finally dropped the ill-conceived murder charges against New York City bodega clerk Jose Alba. The District Attorney’s immediate decision to charge Alba with second-degree murder, despite the video evidence suggesting otherwise, was emblematic of the ‘suspect first, victim last’ mentality pervasive among activist prosecutors in many of our large cities today. This thinking undermines public safety and puts all law-abiding citizens at risk.”
