Statement: Center for Election Integrity Applauds Georgia Legislature on Introduction of Legislation Prohibiting Ranked Choice Voting
Washington, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Ken Blackwell, Chair of the Center for Election Integrity, regarding the Georgia Senate’s passage of S.B. 355 that would prohibit Ranked Choice Voting.
“Ranked Choice Voting is an unnecessarily complicated, confusing system of voting that often results in the candidate who receives fewer initial votes being declared the winner. Studies show Ranked Choice Voting discourages voter participation, adds wait time for results, increases negative ads, and puts a greater strain on election workers. Where it has been tried, it has proved disastrous for voters. Well done, Georgia, for showing bold leadership to help make it easy to vote but hard to cheat!”
