Statement: Ken Blackwell on GA Senate’s Passage of SB 175 Prohibiting Ranked Choice Voting

Ken Blackwell, Chair of the Center for Election Integrity at AFPI, offered the following statement:

“Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a complicated, confusing system of voting that often prevents the candidate who gets the most votes from actually being declared the winner. Studies show Ranked Choice Voting discourages voter participation, adds wait time for results, increases negative ads, and puts a greater strain on election workers. The Center for Election Integrity at the America First Policy Institute has been involved leading the national effort in states to educate on the dangers of RCV. We congratulate the Georgia Senate for passing SB 175 to ban RCV; this is great work for the people of Georgia.”
