Morgan Murphy is from Birmingham, Alabama and serves as a senior defense fellow at AFPI. Previously, Murphy was the National Security Advisor to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville. In the last year of the Trump administration, he served as press secretary to the U.S. Secretary of Defense. An experienced and decorated officer in the U.S. Navy, Captain Murphy is a veteran of Afghanistan, where he served as the director of media outreach for the war. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Oxford and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College and Birmingham-Southern College. In his spare time, Murphy has authored four bestselling cookbooks, restored more than 30 classic Cadillacs and Packards, and makes stained glass windows.
