Campaign Director, Create a Strong Economy
Overall responsibility:
The Campaign Director (CD), Create a Strong Economy will be the primary driver of the Create a Strong Economy policy campaign’s objectives – including policy development, coalition building, communications and digital strategy, and state engagement. Main responsibilities include coordinating the strategic development of policy recommendations, measuring the impact of the campaign’s output, collaborating with key stakeholders on priorities, and managing team dynamics.
The Create a Strong Economy policy campaign will advance the America First Agenda by promoting policies that drive economic growth and uplift all Americans, restore our free enterprise system, and defend American workers. Specific policy priorities include lowering inflation, reining in excessive government spending, expanding pro-growth tax reform that benefits the middle class, incentivizing job creation and wage growth, increasing usage of onshoring, and promoting vocational education and multiple pathways to sustainable careers. The campaign will also advance policies that facilitate trade deals that protect American workers and consumers, build supply chains that rely only on American workers and our allies, and build the world’s greatest infrastructure system.
The Campaign Director, Create a Strong Economy will report to the Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer and work with the Campaign Chair and AFPI leadership.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Own and initiate strategic development of the policy campaign’s objectives, timeline, research, work products, meetings, and amplification in coordination with the Campaign Chair, Chief Policy Officer, and other members of the campaign.
- Manage deadlines, produce reports, and provide quality control for key deliverables - such as bi-weekly reports, presentations, and other material highlighting the impact requested by AFPI leadership and key external stakeholders.
- Consult with AFPI leadership to align policy campaign goals and activities with AFPI organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with other Policy Campaign Directors where relevant, identifying potential areas for collaboration and serving as a resource for other campaigns.
- Champion AFPI’s servant leadership culture.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Relevant job experience and proven skills in project management, writing, research, creative messaging, and other disciplines consistent with leading a team.
- Relevant job experience, background, or education in economics, and a good understanding of economic policy (tax, trade, public deficit, inflation, interest, and/or tariffs) and government spending.
- Excellent managerial skills, including the ability to organize and manage the day-to-day activities of the campaign and coordinate effectively with the team.
- Ability to comprehend/analyze complex legislative and regulatory issues.
- Ability to translate research recommendations and public policy into presentable data.
- Ability to summarize and relay the activities of the policy campaign succinctly into reports and presentations.
- A results-driven leadership approach that actively supports team members, fosters a positive and high-performance culture, and ensures the successful execution of the policy campaign.
- Demonstrated support of free market principles that support America First priorities and a willingness to combine these with personal integrity when making decisions for the campaign and institution.
- An entrepreneurial mindset that seeks new opportunities to grow and advance the mission of AFPI and the policy campaign.
- Ability to maintain productive, collaborative, and collegial relationships with staff and external stakeholders and uphold the public reputation of the institution.
