AFPI Names John Fogarty to Lead Development Team

March 17, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) tapped John Fogarty to serve as the Institute’s next Chief Development Officer, succeeding Martin Gillespie in the role. Fogarty will be responsible for maintaining and growing AFPI’s investor relations and overall development strategy, building on the successful foundation of the current team.

Prior to joining AFPI, Fogarty spent over twenty years in development leadership roles at prominent policy and advocacy organizations, most recently at the Faith and Freedom Coalition. He also served as Vice President of Development at The Heritage Foundation for nearly ten years, leading a team that raised more than $1B in funds – a truly remarkable achievement. His appointment at AFPI represents a significant win for the organization, empowering the development team to identify new relationships, implement superior fundraising strategies, and better integrate efforts across the organization.

“It’s a special St. Patrick’s Day here at AFPI, as John Fogarty joins our senior leadership team as Chief Development Officer,” said Martin Gillespie, AFPI Executive Vice President. “John has hired and trained numerous development professionals—myself included—who inspire philanthropists to support the America First movement and conservative values. John taught us that development is a noble profession rooted in integrity, commitment, humility, passion, and impact. This leadership expansion demonstrates AFPI’s commitment to grow and thrive for the next hundred years.”

"I am honored to join AFPI and work alongside such an exceptional team advancing the America First agenda. I am thrilled to begin my work with AFPI’s incredible donors and development team to build on this momentum and grow the movement for many years to come,” said Fogarty.
