Biography
Dr. Mehmet Oz, an Ohio native and acclaimed physician, brings an extensive record of medical expertise and leadership to his nomination as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. A longtime proponent of healthy living, Dr. Oz was previously the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at New York Presbyterian Hospital and currently serves as Professor Emeritus at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. From 2009 to 2022, he hosted The Dr. Oz Show, a daytime Emmy Award-winning program informing viewers on health, wellness, and prevention strategies. Dr. Oz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College, a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He completed his surgical training in cardiothoracic surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
