President Trump Takes Real Action to Combat Racial Discrimination
PRESIDENT TRUMP SIGNED TWO EXECUTIVE ORDERS TO COMBAT ILLEGAL RACE AND SEX DISCRIMINATION UNDER THE GUISE OF DEI
PRESIDENT TRUMP WILL ENSURE EQUAL TREATMENT BY ENFORCING CIVIL RIGHTS LAWS
- An executive order signed by President Trump, “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity,” directs federal agencies to end “all discriminatory and illegal preferences,” including by enforcing civil rights protections against “illegal private-sector DEI preferences, mandates, policies, programs, and activities.”
- President Trump rescinded Executive Order 11246, signed by President Johnson in 1965, which required federal contractors to take “affirmative action” to remedy racial disparities under the guise of combatting racial discrimination. In practice, Executive Order 11246 institutionalized racial discrimination (“disparate treatment”) to combat racial discrimination.
- In line with America’s traditions of equal treatment under the law, President Trump has made clear that no “hardworking American” should be “stigmatized, demeaned, or shut out of opportunities because of their race or sex.”
PRESIDENT TRUMP WILL ELIMINATE ALL FEDERALLY FUNDED DEI WORK
- Another executive order signed by President Trump, “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing,” ensures federal employees are assessed based on their “individual initiative, skills, performance, and hard work” rather than on divisive DEI agendas.
- President Trump now requires every federal agency head to eliminate to “the maximum extent allowed by law” every DEI employment position, DEI implementation plan, DEI initiative, DEI contract, DEI contractor, and DEI grantee performance requirement.
- Extensive research has shown that DEI programs divide Americans by promoting racial discrimination and by placing them into categories of “oppressor” and “oppressed” based on immutable characteristics such as race and ethnicity.
THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
- On President Biden’s first day in office, he signed Executive Order 13985, “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.” This order, and several subsequent orders, required federal agencies to detail their implementation of discriminatory DEI policies publicly.
- The Biden Administration promoted DEI in the private sector by making its implementation a precondition for acquiring funds from federal programs, including in the CHIPS Act, and by providing a blueprint for the implementation of DEI in the private sector through his executive orders.
