Statement: AFPI Applauds REP. Ogles for Holding CCP Human Rights Abusers Accountable

Adam Savit,  June 27, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Adam Savit, Director of the China Policy Initiative at AFPI, applauding Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) for introducing the Confronting CCP Human Rights Abusers Act:

“The America First Policy Institute supports the relisting of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Institute of Forensic Science as a material supporter of the genocide in East Turkestan (Xinjiang). The Institute is a laboratory for China’s secret police that has used DNA to collect genetic information on Uyghur detainees. The Biden Administration removed the Institute from the entity list in November 2023 in a misguided attempt to obtain CCP cooperation in combating the fentanyl epidemic.

The strategy of appeasing the CCP regime is a proven failure. Beijing has time and again extracted U.S. concessions in return for promises to crack down on fentanyl precursor production. They respond with half-measures while cynically shifting blame for the epidemic onto the American people. President Biden must preserve the integrity of the Entity List and keep the pressure on CCP organizations that enable fentanyl production and genocide.”
