AFPI Letter to Congressional Leadership
Dear Speaker Pelosi, Leader Schumer, Leader McConnell, and Leader McCarthy,
With the midterm elections behind us, attention in Washington has once again returned to funding the federal government. With the current Congress having failed to enact a single appropriations bill through regular order for FY2023, it is now rushing to consider an ill-conceived omnibus appropriations package. The American people deserve transparency and basic fiscal management to help build trust in Congress. That begins with delaying any long-term government funding decisions until a new fiscally responsible, America First Congress takes office, and continues when this new majority returns to regular order and allows for a proper debate on government funding bills for fiscal years 2023 and beyond. The American people are tired of an America Last approach to funding our government - where radical policies are pushed through at the last minute without proper debate and transparency. Instead, Americans want common-sense solutions to high gas prices, rampant crime, open borders, and out-of-control inflation. Through their votes, Americans rejected the out-of-touch policies and egregious spending that emerged from Washington over the past two years. We strongly urge you to oppose an omnibus spending bill and pass a short-term continuing resolution early into next year so that the 118' Congress can appropriately determine government spending levels and priorities.
Sincerely,
Linda McMahon, Brooke L. Rollins, Chad Wolf
