Hogan Gidley, Director of the Center for Election Integrity, Issues Statement Regarding Dept. of Justice Threats to State Governments
August 02, 2021
The current Administration is politicizing the United States Department of Justice by threatening states that want to pass common sense voter protection laws. The U.S. Constitution explicitly gives power to states legislatures to determine how they conduct elections, and if states want to pass laws that make it easy to vote and hard to cheat – it’s their absolute right and duty to do it. This is a clear constitutional fact that the Biden Administration cannot change. CEI stands firmly with states’ authority to control their elections as they face more pressure by the federal government to take over our elections.
